Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2017 will be conducted on May 25, 2017.

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2017 will be conducted on May 25, 2017. For the CLAT 2017 exam, aspirants are required to fill the online application form from January 1, 2017. The exam will be conducted on  May 14, 2016. CLAT 2017 will be held online in approximately 66 exam centres across India. The CLAT 2017 scores will be accepted by as many as 18 NLUs and other law colleges after the result of CLAT 2017 will be announced on May 25. Aspirants are required to note that there are approximately 2252 for undergraduate programmes and 604 for postgraduate programmes. It is expected that there are approximately 40000 test takers while there are approximately 5500 (approximately) seats for postgraduate programmes.


Following the common eligibility criteria of CLAT 2017, candidates applying for UG law programmes need to qualify 12th board examination (Intermediate examination) of 10+2 educational system, scoring at least 45% marks in the aggregate of subjects studied at 10+2 level. Aspirants who are applying for postgraduate programmes need to have an LL.B degree with a minimum score of 55% marks in the final year of law degree examination. Moreover, those aspirants applying for five-year undergraduate programmes through CLAT 2017 need to be equal to or less than 20 years of age.

     Date of Issue of Admission Notification: 25th December 2016 (Sunday)
    Starting date for submission of online application form along with order of preferences for NLUs: 1 st January 2017 (Sunday)
    Last date for submission of filled-in online application form along with order of preferences for NLUs: 31st March 2017 (Friday) till 11:59 pm
    Download of Admit Cards/Hall Tickets begins: 20th April 2017 (Thursday)
    Date of CLAT – 2017 online examination: 14th May 2017 (Sunday) from 03:00 pm to 05:00 pm

The admit card of CLAT 2017 will mention candidature as well as examination details including name and roll number of the candidate, timing and venue of the examination. Candidates are advised to read the instructions carefully before filling the Online application form. candidates can do most of the interactions with CLAT through the CAPS interface provided at CLAT 2016 website. Through CAPS, a candidate can register and apply for CLAT 2016 examination, applications can also check the status of the application, download the admit card, know the result and they can also download the result and score card.

Aspirants who are required to note that for  CLAT section there are topics from different sections which include English & Comprehension, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. CLAT committee includes negative marking policy, under which 0.25 marks each will be deducted from the total scored marks for wrong answers. CLAT 2017 exam centres will be announced by CNLU Patna in January, as the exam will be held in over 175 testing locations across the country.

A candidate who wishes to apply for CLAT 2016 examination is required to register on the CAPS website by providing his/her name , father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, a valid E-mail address, a working mobile number. Candidates must enter their name of the candidate, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, e-mail address and mobile number  (10 digits ) cannot be change at the later stage hence they must be carefully verified and confirmed before submission.
